A car accident involving a white car and an overturned black vehicle on a city street with high-rise buildings in the background.

Collision Reconstruction

We use engineering principles to determine how and why collisions occur and to identify contributing factors. Our collision reconstruction experts analyze roadway evidence, vehicle damage, electronic data, and maintenance records to reconstruct vehicle motion, speeds, and impact dynamics.

We are based in Toronto and provide collision reconstruction services throughout the Greater Toronto Area, across Ontario, and throughout Canada. We are also retained on matters in the United States and internationally. We are retained by legal counsel, insurers, and private clients to deliver clear, defensible opinions supported by physical evidence and established analytical methods. Collision reconstruction (also commonly referred to as accident investigation) is conducted using a combination of engineering analysis, data interpretation, and, where applicable, simulation.

Services include:

  • 3D laser scanning and site documentation

  • Vehicle damage and crush energy analysis

  • Event Data Recorder (EDR / “black box”) and Infotainment Module downloads

  • Time–distance, speed, and visibility analysis

  • 3D collision simulation and animation

  • Video and photogrammetry-based trajectory tracking

Types of collisions analyzed:

  • Passenger vehicle

  • Motorcycle

  • Heavy vehicles

  • Pedestrian

  • Bicycle

  • Boat

  • Recreational vehicles such as snowmobiles, ATVs and golf carts.

Use in Legal Proceedings

Our findings are presented in formal expert reports and, where required, through testimony. Each opinion is supported by transparent methodology and clearly documented assumptions to assist the trier of fact.
